This is one of the most common concerns we hear from clients who visit BEYOND Kichijoji.

Pitfall #1: Judging progress by weight alone

Many people step on the scale every day and think,
“I gained since yesterday” or “It’s not going down at all,”
and let the number control their emotions.

However —
your weight is only one part of the change.

When you start strength training:

  • Body fat decreases
  • Muscle mass and body water increase

As a result, your weight may stay the same while your body looks noticeably leaner. This happens very often.

I’ve personally experienced this many times in my early training days —
“My weight didn’t change, but my suit became looser.”

👉 What truly matters is:
body fat percentage, how you look, and how your clothes fit.


Pitfall #2: Eating too little

“I want to lose weight fast, so I’ll just eat less.”
This mindset is actually quite dangerous.

When you reduce food intake too much:

  • You lose muscle
  • Your metabolism drops
  • You get tired more easily

As a result, you end up creating a body that is
“harder to lose fat and easier to gain weight.”
